Terms of Service
Last updated: August 11, 2026
By using Wakestow you agree to these terms. They are short and written to be understood — not to protect us from you, but to protect the experience for everyone.
The product
Wakestow lets you leave short text memories at physical locations and read memories left by others when you are physically present at those locations. That's it. There is no social network, no public profile, no feed.
Who can use this
You must be at least 13 years old to use Wakestow. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.
What you can leave
You can leave anything you would write in a letter to a stranger who will stand exactly where you stood. Memories must be in your own words.
You may not leave:
- Content that is illegal — threats, incitement, content that sexualises minors, or content that is unlawful in the jurisdiction where it is left
- Personal information about someone who has not consented to it
- Spam — repeated identical or near-identical memories, or content designed to game discovery
- Content designed to deceive — impersonating emergency services, false safety warnings, or deliberate misinformation at scale
- Advertising or promotional content of any kind
Moderation
Anyone who discovers a memory can report it. Reports are reviewed by a human moderator. Memories that violate these terms will be removed. In serious cases, the account responsible will be blocked from leaving further memories.
We aim to act on critical reports (threats, illegal content) within 24 hours. We will not restore memories removed for policy violations.
Your content
You own the words you write. By leaving a memory you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store and serve that memory to users who are physically present at its location, for as long as it remains in the system. This licence ends when you delete the memory.
We will never reproduce your memories in advertising, train AI models on them, or share them outside the service without your explicit consent.
Deleting your data
Settings → Delete everything permanently removes all your memories and your anonymous account from our system. This is irreversible. See the Privacy Policy for the full data deletion details.
Service availability
We provide the service as-is. We will do our best to keep it running but make no uptime guarantees. We may change or discontinue features. If we shut down the service entirely we will give at least 30 days' notice before deleting data.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for memories left by other users. The content of memories is the responsibility of the person who left them. If you encounter content that requires urgent attention, use the in-app report feature or contact us at support@wakestow.com.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in-app and — if you have provided a recovery email — by email. Continued use after changes are published constitutes acceptance.
