Delete Your Account

This page explains how to delete your Wakestow account and everything attached to it. Wakestow has no username and no password: an anonymous account is created on your device the first time you open the app. Deletion therefore happens from the device that holds it — or, if you added a recovery email, by writing to us from that address.
Delete it from the app
Open Settings, go to Your data, and choose Delete Everything. Confirm once. The deletion runs immediately, in the Android app and on the web alike.
If you no longer have the app installed
Write to us from the recovery email address you added and ask for deletion. That address is the only link between you and the account, so it is the only thing we need — and the only thing we will ask you for.
If you never added a recovery email
Then nothing connects the account to you, and there is no request we could match against it. Removing the app's data on the device removes the only key to the account, and nobody can reach it afterwards — including us. Memories you already left stay where you left them, no longer attached to any reachable account. If you want a specific one taken down, write to us and describe it; it goes to the same moderation queue a report does.
What deletion removes
- Every memory you left — its text, its exact coordinates, and everything derived from them.
- Your recovery email address, if you added one, including the copy held by our authentication system.
- The anonymous account itself, its keys, and any app keys or sessions signed in to it.
- The records that made it work: what you had already been shown, your rate-limit counters, and any appeal you filed.
Deletion is immediate and irreversible. No backup survives it and there is no restore path — we cannot undo it for you afterwards.
What is kept, and why
Moderation records — that something was held, removed, or reported — are kept as an audit trail, so that removals can be reviewed and abuse can be recognised across accounts. When your account goes, the link between those records and it is erased, and they never carry the text of a deleted memory. Aggregate numbers that identify nobody, such as how many memories a region holds, also remain.
How long it takes
The deletion itself completes within the same request. Diagnostic reports you may have allowed earlier expire on their providers' own schedules — 30 days for Sentry, 90 days for Firebase Crashlytics — and carry no identifier of your account.
